Steroidal saponins from <i>Trillium govanianum</i> as ?-amylase, ?-glucosidase, and dipeptidyl peptidase IV inhibitory agents

Abstract Objective To provide the scientific basis for utility of rhizome Trillium govanianum as nutraceutical supplements in managing physiological glycemic levels. Methods The vitro enzyme inhibitory activity extract, fractions, and isolated steroidal saponins from part T. was carried out against ?-amylase, ?-glucosidase, dipeptidyl peptidase IV. molecular interactions, binding score, pharmacokinetic parameters (absorption, distribution metabolism, excretion) were analyzed by Schrodinger docking software. Key findings Current study explained that possess good ?-amylase ?-glucosidase while moderate IV activity. Moreover, results revealed borassoside E (IC50 7.15 ± 1.78 ?M), protodioscin 6.72 0.04 diosgenin 12.75 2.70 ?M) are most effective inhibiting IV, respectively. silico studies established an association between their interactions with Conclusion this investigation suggest fractions exhibit antidiabetic which could be used management systemic glucose level.
